Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story Webseries review
Scam 1992 is brilliant in every aspect. A webseries based on some financial scam that happened in 90s that means in pre-digital era. One could see how much effort one has to put to bring out that 90s period. Kudos to the creator and crew. I think the best thing about the series is screenplay, not even a minute I felt bored and I never thought I would binge-watch this one as it is based on financial fraud. That means there will be many technical details about how the stocks gets processed and how the money market operates and people may easily get bored of hearing all this. It was interesting throughout the last episode.
Casting is brilliant. I don't know anyone can play as Hardhad Mehta except Pratik Gandhi (An actor who appears mainly in Gujarati movies). His acting was immaculate. It felt like he is an actor having fifty years of experience in cine field. Be it the dialogue delivery or the body language, he did wonderful job. The next great performance was by Shreyas Dhanvandhary(Known for The Family Man). She did an amazing job, playing as a Journalist. Along with these two, everyone performed very well. There is not even a single flaw in casting.
The beauty is boldness. The makers of this series never cared to hide anything. If it's a scam involving SBI or Citibank then be it, they didn't change it to BBI or SitiBank. Even if the scam invloves the biggest position from the government, they bravely put it out. Everything was detailed as it was. Only some scenes were fictional. With all these plus points, they didn't stop and went ahead and got the best background score and theme, it was just icing on the cake. At first, the theme didn't interest me much, later when I continued watching, it had me. I still can't get over the theme music from my head. It still resonates over my head again and again.
Scam 1992 is Masterpiece, stands in a world cinimatic level. Never to be missed.
