Vikram Vedha Movie Review

Image
Vikram vedha - I was waiting for this movie like how eagerly I waited to watch baahubali. To be honest, the trailer didn't much impress me in the first place. But when I listened to the album, it completely blow my mind and I think I might have watched the approx. three minutes trailer more than thirty times. The trailer itself has so much brilliance, say, the projection of three cups when both the leads talk about themselves and at the end of the trailer when vedha climbs Vikram from the back. And then yes, after watching interviews came to conclusion that this movie is based on Vikramadhityan Vedalam tales. One of the major plus point in the movie is screen play, such a brilliant writing and different way of narration. Initially I thought they might have given more importance to Vijay Sethupathy and less cared for madhavan. Because this is what they to whenever they make film about criminal and police if criminal casting is done by top most hero. But the director duo puskar ...

Aval Movie Review

Image
Aval - I was perplexed to decide between Aval and Aram, because both were performing well at the theatres. After giving much thought, picked tickets for Aval, as there are chances that it might come out of theatres in the next week. Also the main reason was that I heard that Dunkirk's sound mixer lauded about the sound mixing in Aval, so wanted to witness it in theatre with Dolby Atmos. Initially, Majority of people were laughing to hide the fear for every scenes in the first half when that fifteen minutes romantic scenes got over. But after interval, there was an eerie silence, sitting at the edge of the seat, not sure what would happen next. Such a wonderful writing and bgm made the movie stand higher despite having many clichés. I felt like watching a Hollywood movie as the movie had impeccable performance of the characters as well as the cinematography, music and premises. I personally felt the character "Jenny aka Jennifer" outperformed everyone and liked ...

Mugavari (1999) Movie Review

Image
Mugavari – I remember watching this movie at Alankar theatre in Madurai. Yes, they were screening movies like this then. If people ask what it is to be born in 90s, I would gladly tell them that they can watch movies like mugavari and muthalvan in theatre. This was released in 2000, during which I was studying second standard. May be, people think how a seven year old boy could understand a serious matured music flick. But I remember how Sridhar puts aside his dream and goes  to office. This could tell them that how much I liked this movie even as a kid. Sridhar is such a gifted person because not everyone gets a family like Sridhar’s that supports, motivates and lives his dream; to become music director; Not only family, an audio cassette shop owner, his friend and his girlfriend Viji. So, if life gives a chance to be Sridhar, who would deny? We all know every character played best, So I don’t want to brag about their performances, because whoever acted in this film are...

It happened one night (1934) Movie review

Image
It happened one night (1934) – I know the name is appealing to pick it up to watch, but it will not have a single scene of what we expect. (Pun Intended) But you will definitely like the content it has. First thing about watching these kinds of old movies is screenplay might not be very moving, but this beats all the odds. From the start to an end, not even a single time I got bored and made me to watch the movie continuously till end. Be it dialogues, face reactions or emoti ons, this movie captures everything at its best even though the story line is simple. Every girl and the boy who marries the girl would like to have a father just like girl’s father. This becomes my personal best romantic movie of all time, because this is pragmatic as well as the conveyed love is very realistic. This is not like a titanic to have a handsome Dicaprio and appealing kate winslet, but it has people like us who will fall in love which moves me easily. Despite being the oldest movie that I ever...

Chekka Chivantha Vaanam CCV Movie review

Image
Chekka chivantha Vaanam - I had an entirely different experience because my room mate spilled important beans of the plot to me before watching even though I refused to listen - just can't help it. But still I liked watching it in theatre sitting in the center seat of the middle row as it had many things to witness. First thing that impresses most is the background score which becomes the strongest positive factor. After that the multi cast takes their position to give you th eir best. Though most people felt it was the show between rasool and Ethi, I personally felt varadhan had greater scope than anyone else. Man the way he showcases his power I feel he really deserves the position that he wanted. A frame that projects varadhan at the top while rasool at the lower floor reminds the Iruvar moments and then the scene where the periyavar's mother stands back in the glass window waves at her kids. Even showing a rainbow to match the mazai kuruvi lyric - all gives you Man...

96 Movie Review

Image
"96 - You pay 120 bucks, sit in the reclining seats, wait and witness the Kadhale song. That's it. You feel content. There is so much to say about "96 and one cannot easily express what this will do to you. Things may settle slowly but once the rhythm sets in, it will be fierce - we can't easily come out from the plot. Even during the interval and post the end, saw the most people sit back in their chair relishing the moments. There are many interpretations in the movie but  I could able to spot only some scenes. To be specific a scene where Janu holds the gear but Ram who was shy all the time now places his hand over her hand bravely, changes the gear which interprets it's not fair and together they both need to move on. Likewise, there is ample of list which if I tell it will be spoiler. This kind of writing makes the screenplay a perfect one. Through out the movie it was clear that there was competition between Vijay sethupathy and Trisha in te...
