Maanadu Movie Review

 

Maanadu - The first thing that came to my mind after seeing the first scene is, the Hollywood movie "Source Code". I started to feel disappointed knowing that the entire movie is going to be based on the time loop. The worst part is people who haven't watched Source code is going to enjoy it and I am not going to enjoy it. The whole theatre was struck in awe seeing the timeloop scene for the first time. But for me, it was a normal scene and I started to feel bored until some fan moments started to pour in like the nose bleeding scene, reminding the Manmadhan. From there it started getting better for me and it became very interesting in the second half. Even though first half seemed a little repitative for me, it was good to see the slim and fit Simbu. Even it was little different from his previous acting. So, Simbu shines throughout the film, having a go with SJ Surya. 

I guess the reason this science fiction worked is Venkat Prabhu planned it very well and tried to explain a mind numbing concept in a easiest way - comedy. His effort was visible throughout the movie and editing is top notch. The editor deserves as much as the recognition anyone going to get through this film. 

As usual, Yuvan's bgm is good. Song is okayish.

Maanadu will be amazing treat for the people who didn't watch source code or any other movies that Simbu mentiones in the film and it will be a good entertaining watch for the people who already watched time loop based movies. There will not be a disappointment at the end of the movie for both of the kind, though.
